Shipping profile edits and market-driven shipping

24 September 2026

Shopify is changing how shipping is set up. Starting October 1 stores can opt in to market-driven shipping, and Shopify plans to move every store to it by July 2027. With the new setup, shipping rates live on each market instead of in shipping profiles, and a rate applies to all products or to a collection. There’s no way to put a product in a shipping profile anymore, because the profiles are gone.

That means our Shipping Profile edit doesn’t have anything to do on a store that has moved. So the app now checks which setup your store is on. If you’re still on shipping profiles, nothing changes and the edit works like before. If your store has moved to market-driven shipping, the field shows a note explaining this instead of asking you to approve the shipping permission. Any scheduled shipping profile edit or undo that runs after the store moves stops with an SHP004 error rather than doing something you don’t expect.

If you’re on the new setup and want to change which rate applies to a set of products, put them in the collection the rate uses. That’s a normal Collections edit in the app, so you can still do it for everything from a vendor or everything with a tag in one go. The rate itself is edited in Shopify under Settings > Markets.

When Shopify moves your store, it creates collections that match your old shipping profiles (named “[SHIPPING]” plus the profile name), so your product groupings carry over.
