Sidekick can edit and filter on more fields

21 September 2026

If you use Shopify Sidekick to set up bulk edits, it can now reach a lot more of the app. Our original version of the Sidekick integration was limited to the most common fields. Now it’s been expanded, so asking it for things like “add the prefix WH- to every SKU from this vendor” or “turn off tax on everything tagged gift-card” works instead of coming back with an error. New fields include SKU, URL handle, option names and values, tax settings, “continue selling when out of stock”, country of origin, HS and tax codes, theme template, weight unit, inventory tracking, and search engine visibility.

We’ve also improved bulk editing of metafields. Sidekick could already edit text, number, and list metafields. It can now edit date, date and time, money, URL, rich text, rating, weight, dimension, and volume metafields too, so “set the restock date to October 31 on everything from this vendor” or “set the bottle volume to 750 ml” are one request. The Google Shopping fields (age group, condition, gender, custom product, size system, size type, category, and the custom labels) and the related products display setting are editable through Sidekick as well.

There are more ways to change a value. Sidekick can now set a compare-at price as a percentage of the price, set a price from cost, or clear a compare-at price. It can trim text: remove a word from the end or the start of every title, cut titles to a length, or remove everything after a certain word. And it can rename a tag in one step, including fixing the capitalization of a tag, instead of adding one and removing the other.

Finally, we’ve doubled the number of search filters Sidekick can use, to 40. You can now narrow an edit to products with an empty description, products published in the last two weeks, products with more than a certain number of variants, products not on your point of sale channel, and a few more. Sidekick also finds fields by the same names the app uses, so “cogs” gets you to Cost and “stock keeping unit” gets you to SKU.

Sidekick still hands you a preview link, and nothing changes until you review it in the app and press Run.
